To put it simply, music moves people. This blog is a collection of songs to move to, in some fashion or another. Whether it's physical - running, dancing, driving or what have you - or mental, music plays a tremendous role in many peoples' day to day lives. Some of these songs you'll probably have heard. Others will be completely new to you. Others still may be rediscoveries. My hope is to bring you a song each day that is not only enjoyable to listen to, but may also make your day just a little better.

When I think “you know, fuck Valentine’s Day”, I think of @loscampesinos. Cheers!

It took me a while to get around to it, but Feist’s most recent album, Metals, is her best yet, and by a pretty wide margin, I think. “How Come You Never Go There” is one of a handful of gems.

In 2005, Bloc Party’s Silent Alarm came bursting out of a lot of speakers and headphones, comprised of equal parts Echo and The Bunnymen, Interpol, and the tradition of British guitar bands. It was one of the tightest debut albums in recent memory, they were that sharp. Unfortunately, they’ve not yet lived up to the promise that Silent Alarm showed, as their second and third albums were less than remarkable. But man, what a song to start a debut album “Like Eating Glass” is. Enjoy.

Last night, I saw the Foo Fighters wrap up their North American tour at the Garden. The Joy Formidable were the opening act, and they were fabulous. The Foos played for nearly three hours, and Social Distortion sounded as tight as ever, but the best performance of a single song was TJF performing “Whirring” to a couple thousand early arriving concertgoers.

The quality of Spoon’s music is so consistent that it almost seems implausible to go so long without doing anything average, much less bad. Enjoy “The Two Sides of Monsieur Valentine”.

Back when Boys & Girls in America came out, I didn’t really dig The Hold Steady. Listening to them now for the first time in years, I am wondering how I formed that opinion.

Broken Social Scene - 7/4 Shoreline [Indie Rock]
I’m not a huge BSS fan, but this is one of my favorite songs of the last ten years. So good.

Islands - Where There’s a Will There’s a Whalebone [Indie Rock]
Return to the Sea is a phenomenal album. This is one of the strangest tracks on the album, yet one of my favorites. Hope you enjoy.

Bloc Party - Like Eating Glass [Indie Rock]
Forgot how good Silent Alarm is. Very good.
